Apprenticeships

Click here to view our Apprenticeships Handbook for Employers.

Apprenticeships have proven themselves over the years as the most effective way to train your workforce and ensure that businesses can compete on a local, national and international stage. All  college fees are paid and businesses may also be eligible for other financial help.

Apprentices

What is an apprentice?
Apprentices are valuable additions to your workforce.  They spend time at College learning valuable skills which they put into use during their time working for you.

Why take on an apprentice? An apprentice will…
….make good financial sense, with graduated pay scales and government incentives making it an affordable alternative to hiring fully qualified staff.
….complete recognised training, which can help keep your business current with the latest industry developments.
….be trained to your exact requirements and the commitment your business makes will result in a loyal employee.

Help Is Available?
Taking on an apprentice is now easier than ever and we will provide you with a Training Support Officer to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Our Training Support Officers will:

  • Advise you on what financial help and support is available to you
  • Choose an apprentice who is suitable for your needs
  • Perform health & safety checks
  • Monitor the progress of your apprentice
  • Ensure that the apprentice is fulfilling your business needs on a regular basis

What do I do next?
You can contact a Business Development Manager or Training Support Officer who will talk you through the simple process of taking on an apprentice and the help and support that is available to you. Call 01254 354400 for more details.
